An electronic circuit generating the monitoring signals of electronic units measuring frequency, single time periods, or repetitive periods and their variants and combinations enables complete testing for all operating modes and time bases without additional measurement equipment and without computation or requiring skilled interpretation. It contains two frequency dividers in series with controlled division ratios, a time base controller and switch, a mode controller and switch, and a time base generator. The first divider divides the time base generator frequency according to the time base switch setting. The output of the first divider is frequency-divided by the second according to the setting of the mode switch. The mode controller contains logic selecting division ratios for frequency, periodic time duration, and single period measurement.
