The windmill has a number of blades supported at top and bottom by discs or arms. The blades are arranged to rotate so that, when the wind blows, a torque is generated to turn the central shaft of the windmill. The blades are connected to the central axis by a : gearing such that, when the central axis turns to the right the vanes turn to the left. There is a cam which controls the rotation of the individual blades so that their angle of attack changes during a complete turn of the whole rotor. Preferably the gears on the axis are identical in number of the number of blades, and can be adjusted as a system, or individually. Between the rotor and a cam disc, common to all blades, may be mounted a rotary coupling. The mechanism controlled by the cam disc may be mounted on a plate, rotatable about the rotor axis.
|
