PURPOSE:To perform the treatment of materials economically and effectively by a solid-liquid contacting method in which rectifying plates are placed in a flowing liquid to produce a fast flowing zone and a slow-flowing zone and then granular solid beds are provided between them so as to enable the Bernoulli's to be utilized. CONSTITUTION:The rectifying plates 5 and 5' are provided at the inlet for fluid to form the slow-flowing zones 12 and 12' and the fast-flowing zone 11. In the boundary between both the zones, the comparatively thin granular solid beds 6 and 6' of a wide area are provided, whereby permitting a solid-liquid contact to be performed because fluid is directed from the slow-flowing zones to the fast-flowing zone and passed through the granular solid beds on the basis of the Bernoulli's theorem. This method can treat a great amount of the sea water without the consumption of energy and thus is suitable for the recovery of uranium from the sea water, etc. |
