The appts. draws off tracheo-bronchial secretions in a closed respiration system. It has a closed pot-shaped respiration head connected to the hoses supplying and discharging the respiratory gases and with a union for a tracheal tube. The wall of the pot opposite this union has a union for a cassette containing sterile probes in sleeves alongside each other and parallel to the line between the unions. The top ends of the probes have union cones, and are so secured inside the cassette top as to allow them to be thrust out downwards by axial pressure. The cassette housing has an exhauster pipe with a connecting hose for securing at the other end to the cones, and it can be slid on a baseplate so as to bring each probe in turn into line with the union.
