Speed control system for a vehicle having a source of compressed air (16), such as a heavy duty truck, including an electronic controller (42) which controls a pair of solenoid valves (24, 26) to regulate communication between the compressed air source (16) and an air acuated throttle mechanism (36) and between the latter and the ambient atmosphere, the controller (42) being responsive to an actual vehicle speed signal, a memorized vehicle speed signal and an air actuated throttle mechanism position signal to generate an error signal which actuates accordingly the pair of solenoid valves (24, 26) to maintain a preselected vehicle speed. |
