An isolated vibratory conveyor includes a base 14' resiliently mounted on a stationary support and a trough 16' resiliently mounted on the base. Natural fundamental frequencies of the conveyor, and natural harmonics of certain of these fundamental frequencies are determined. A driver 46 is provided to produce forced vibrations of the trough at a frequency above the natural vertical bending fundamental frequency. This enables conveyors to be used which are constructed in single lengths (each of which lengths may comprise a plurality of sections connected together) longer than would otherwise be possible. <IMAGE> |
