Fluid gyroscope for guidance systems - has geared rollers on pitch circles with internal volume for mercury

A fluid gyroscope unit is used as the basis of a guidance system for water, air, land and space vehicles. The unit has a central axis (AA) around which are located a number of rollers (3) supported on shafts (3c) and with pinion gears (6,7) at one end and bearings (17) at the other. A main pinion (5) transmits motion to the pinion gears. The internal region of the rollers is separated into reservoirs (21,22) that contain liquid mercury that is transferred through interconnecting ducts (23,24), when motion of the body occurs.
