The safety shoe consists of a protective toe-cap (4), a tread and sole assembly and an inner sole (6) and heel. On the surfaces of the inner sole (6) and/or heel (9) facing away from the upper there are several cavities (10, 11) for increasing the energy absorption in the heel. The cavities (11) are made while the tread sole (3) is being vulcanised around the upper part (2) of the shoe (1). The shoe gives good protection and is comfortable to wear.
