<p>PURPOSE:Only the reaction of an isopropyl halide with 4-(3-amino-2-hydroxypropoxy)indole or its salt can produce title compound useful as a therapeutic medicine for tachycardia, extrasystole and hyperpiesia in high yield. CONSTITUTION:The reaction between 4-(3-amino-2-hydroxy-propoxy)indole of formula I and an isopropyl halide of formula II (X is halogen, preferably bromine) is conducted to give 4-(3-isopropylamino-2-hydroxy-propoxy)indole of formula III. The compound of formula is obtained, e.g., by the reaction of 4-hydroxyindole with epichlorohydrin followed by the reaction of the resulting 4-epoxyindole with ammonia. EFFECT:The steps of the manufacturing process can be shortened and the process is suitable for practical application because specialized equipment is unnecessary.</p> |
