PURPOSE:The title remedy, capable of showing antibacterial, antifungal, hemostatic, and analgesic actions, and comprising an iodinated peppermint oil. CONSTITUTION:A remedy comprising an iodinated peppermint oil (P), e.g. obtained from Mentha arvensis L. var. piperascens Holmes or piperita L., usable as a solution, emulsion or ointment. The iodinated P is a red or dark brown viscous liquid prepared by reactng peppermint oil with iodine at 80 deg.C or above. The peppermint oil is a water-insoluble natural essential oil obtained by steam distillation of leaves, flowers, and stalks of Mentha arvensis. |
