NEW MATERIAL:A 2-hydroxysagamicin shown by formula and its nontoxic acid addition salt. USE:Antibacterial agent for gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria and effective against Escherichia coil and the genus Providencia. PROCESS:For example, a bacterium, e.g., Micromonospora sagamiencis [FERM-P No.3573 (NRRL11006)], etc., belonging to the genus Micromonospora, having an activity to convert streptamine into 2-hydroxysagamicin is cultured in a streptamin-containing medium. 2-Hydroxysagamicin is accumulated in the culture and collected. |
