Floating hopper barge operating mechanism - lifts material to below water line and discharges from that level into hopper barge with underwater side access door(s)

The arrangement is intended for removing underwater material (9) by means of e.g. a grab-bucket (8), partic. a grab suspended from a floating crane, and depositing it in a compartment (1) of a hopper barge. The grab lifts the material to a given level below the water line (2) and discharges it into the barge from that level. The barge compartment is largely below the water line and has a door (3) providing access for the grab. The barge may have two compartments extending longitudinally along its sides and each provided with an access opening below water level.
