PURPOSE:To adequately perform the machining work of end parts of a work, by equipping a detecting mechanism of the end part to a machine correspondingly to machining electrodes for end edges of the work. CONSTITUTION:When auxiliary heads 5 are transversely fed to bring electrodes 2 to positions of the stepped portion at roll ends, a detecting arm 10 for the stepped part at the roll end has been adjusted in such a manner as to be also brough to the stepped position. The arm 10 is pushed out toward the direction of the roll 3 due to the step at said end part by the tension of an spring 11 and actuated by the action of a balance to depress a limit switch 12 at its opposite side turning the switch ON. The ON position of said switch 12 can detect the electrode 2 of the auxiliary head 5 coming to the stepped position at the roll end to perform the following series of machining operations (for instance, machining conditions, machining work till the end obtains the same level as the central part of the roll while being changed the transverse feed system) until the machining work is finished. |
