PURPOSE:A novel mutant that is obtained by mutating a microorganism belonging to Arthrobacter, thus permitting the accumulation of androstane compounds converted from sterol with no addition of inhibitor. CONSTITUTION:A mutant, which is obtained, e.g., by mutating a microorganism belonging to Arthrobacter simplex through a known process and deactivating the enzyme decomposing androstane compounds or containing the enzyme with reduced activity of decomposing the sames, for example, Arthrobacter simplex MCI-0803 (FERM-4261) and MCI-0804 (FERM-4298). |
