PURPOSE:To protect catalyst disposed in the exhaust system of an engine against deterioration by phosphorus contained in exhaust gas, by passing engine oil to be supplied to combustion chamber through adsorbent for removing phosphorus contained in the engine oil. CONSTITUTION:A part of engine oil collected in oil pan 2 after lubricating various parts of engine 1 is introduced into carburetor 5 via strainer 4. Here, in order to remove phosphorus contained in oil, adsorbent consisting principally of activated alumina is disposed at positions A, B in oil feeding passage C. Thus, it is prevented that exhaust gas containing phosphorus is passed through catalyst disposed in the exhaust system of engine 1, so that catalyst can be protected against deterioration. |
