PURPOSE:To surely prevent the contact between a wire electrode and electrode guide at the time of electric discharge machining, by determining a work holding position and arm feed path at the time of machining feed from the state of contact between the work and contact piece at the time of a test feed operation with the wire electrode removed. CONSTITUTION:Under the condition with the removal of a wire electrode, a work 10 is fixed to an XY cross table 11. Before performing an electric discharge machining operation by arranging the wire electrode at a face-to-face position to the work 10, a contact piece 44 replaced in an electrode guide is experimentally fed with a prescribed feed pattern for the work, then the state of contact between the contact piece 44 and the work 10 determines the holding position of the work 10 and the feed path of an arm 32. In this way, the collision of the electrode guide 34 and the arm 32 against the work 10 can be prevented when the operation of machining feed is actually performed. |
