Compounds of the formula (I) wherein Z1 represents hydrogen or alkanoyl of 2 to 10 carbon atoms, Z2 represents alkanoyl of 2 to 10 carbon atoms, wherein the alkanoyl groups Z1 and Z2 can be identical or different, and R1 represents alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and acid addition salts thereof, display in particular cardioselective .beta.-receptor stimulating activities with a long period of action which characterize such compounds as cardiotonic agents which can be used on their own or in combination with other compounds which act on the coronary circulation for the treatment of mycrocardial insufficiency.
