The ventilation shutter comprises a flat front portion with ventilation ports and guides accommodating a valve plate with further ports brought partly or fully into line with the first ones. The valve plate is coupled to a slide working in the guides. Movement is controlled by a rotary knob, on whose spindle is a gear (11) meshing with a rack (9) forming part of the slide (6). The gear can be accommodated in a recess (8) in the slide extending in the lengthwise direction, in one side of which the rack is formed.
