PURPOSE:To completely avoid liquid leak and facilitate lamination work, by employing as an electrolyte of an organic electrolyte battery a cyclic ether having one double bond in its molecule and capable of being polymerized into a semi-solid state. CONSTITUTION:In an organic electrolyte battery having a negative electrode in which a light metal is used as an active material and a positive electrode in which fluorocarbon or the like is present as a principal component, the electrolyte is gelled as follows: The organic solvent dissolving a solute is cyclie ether containing one double bond in its molecule and the cyclic ether is polymerized to render the electrolyte semisolid. As the above cyclic ether, 4-methyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrane is preferred. The cyclic ether is suitably mixed with a solvent such as propylene carbonate. The above cyclic ether is easily polymerized by an addition of a polymerization initiator and rendered into a semisolid state. |
