The chimney cowl comprises two or more truncated conical components, mounted at the top of the chimney and adjustable in relation to each other. These form lateral aeration passages siding the draught, which are enclosed by ribs. One component can have side faces with folds forming ribs for reinforcement and fixing. There are adjustable intake and reverse-flow preventing shutters at opposite ends. The reinforcing ribs of one component can be arranged to fit inside the folds forming those of another, locating the components in relation to each other in the radial and axial directions.
