The vessel is fitted with auxiliary machinery consisting of an air compressor or gas turbine with a set at each end of the vessel. The exhaust from each of the sets is connected to exhaust pipes through a distributor. The pipes are located in the vessel's hull above the water line. The stern pipes exhaust on either side of the hull. The bow exhaust pipes are similarly connected and there is an additional bow pipe (11) exhausting over the stern. The vessel is manoeuvred by directing the exhaust gases or compressed air to one or more pipes.
