PURPOSE:To make an easy increase in memory capacity possible by uniforming recording density over the entire recording area by narrowing effective track width toward the outer circumference of a magnetic disk. CONSTITUTION:Tracks on magnetic disk 1 are less and less in track width as they are closer and closer to its outer circumference, and external circumference track 7... are less in width than internal circumference track 6... while external circumference tracks 7... are longer and longer in bit length than internal circumference tracks 6.... Thus, writing and reading operations come into effect by fixed heads corresponding to the track width of each track or one head which attains access at an angle in the radius direction of disk 1 and cross external circumference tracks 7... slanting while having its gap-length-directional position agreeing with internal circumference tracks 6... in the radius direction of the tracks. This constitution makes the recording density even over the entire recording area, so that the memory capacity can easily be increased. |
