The support for a patient's foot is designed to apply an upwards force to enable X-ray photographs to be made to detect fractures between the shin bone and ankle bone. The patient's leg rests on the surface (16) of the couch, secured by a leather strap, with the foot supported against the two faces at right angles in an L-shaped carrier (20, 21). This rests against an intermediate surface (19) connected to a fixed support (25) parallel to it, by two swinging levers (22, 24). These are connected to each other at four hinge points forming a parallelogram linkage. The upper lever (22) has an extension (26) on the other side of its hinge point (28) carrying a sliding wt. (27). This determines the lifting force applied to the foot carrier.
|
