Safety hook with closable mouth - has steel rope in U=shape bent round catch hinge pin and forming catch spring

The safety hook has the mouth closed by a hinging catch whose free end is spring-loaded against the hook tip. The spring is formed by a length of steel wire rope (9) which is bent into a U-shape. The base portion (10) of the wire hole U-shape fits in a slot (12) in the hook (1) behind the catch hinge pin (3) and open towards the inside (11) of the hook. Its arms (13) are first bent over the top of the hinge pin and then bear against the inside surface (15) of the catch (2).
