The plunger (11) terminates in a damping chamber (49) connected to the fuel pressure line (16) through an orifice valve (50) to prevent small fluctuations Connected directly (56) to this chamber is the fuel pressure regulating valve (27), arranged as a differential pressure valve. If the damping chamber pressure rises above a set level the regulating valve closes and the fuel pressure rises to the max. the pump (14) can deliver.
