The power tool has a circuit board inside a two-part handgrip and carries a potentiometer for setting the speed of the tool. The two parts of the handgrip have a slotted hole set into a concave recess in the region of their adjoining upper edges. The potentiometer wheel (9) is located in the plane of the join between the parts of the handgrip such that it extends into the recess and is accessible from the outside. The axis of rotation of the potentiometer is at right angles to the axis of the tool spindle. The potentiometer is situated such that the periphery of its wheel does not project beyond the outline of the handgrip.
