<p>PURPOSE:To increase adhesion to pulp fibers to cement matrix by treating the surface of pulp sheets beaten into fiber mats with a cationic synthetic resin emulsion and mixing the mats with cement moldings. CONSTITUTION:Pulp sheets are beaten into fibrous mats. The beaten mats are treated on their fiber surfaces, with a cationic synthetic resin emulsion and the product is uniformly mixed with the starting composition for cement moldings. The cationic synthetic rubber emulsion is a resin emulsion made from acrylate, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, ethylene-vinyl acetate polymers. In general, the beaten pulp fibers are charged negatively and the electric charge inhibits the pulp sheet from dispersing homogeneously into the cement materials in dry mixing. The treatment with the cationic emulsion neutralizes the negative charge on the pulp sheet to facilitate the dispersion.</p> |
