Line output stage for TV receiver - has line transformer with HV windings formed in annular segments and operating as voltage doubler

The line output stage for a television receiver is designated to be light, small and simply produced. The line frequency voltage signal (1) is applied to the base of transistor (2) to control the switching of the primary side of the transformer (4). The secondary high voltage winding (5) acts as a voltage doubler supplying a rectifier cascade (6) coupled to the cathode ray tube (8). The winding core (9) of the transformer contains radial projections spaced at intervals along the axis of the core. Separating spaces are formed between each pair of projections that contain the high voltage windings.
