Catalysts contg. an iridium component and a halogen component on a heat resistant support are regenerated after using for hydrocarbon conversion by (a) contacting the at least partly deactivated catalyst in a reaction zone with an oxygen-contg. gas mixt. at 600 degrees C, esp. 340-490 degrees C, to burn off at least a part of the carbon-contg. residues; (b) contacting the catalyst zone with a H2-contg. gas at esp. 350-550 degrees C, to convert a considerable part of the iridium into metallic form; (c) contacting the catalyst 300 degrees C esp. 300-600 degrees C with a gas contg. elementary halogen; (d) contacting the catalyst at esp. 350-550 degrees C, with a hydrogen-contg. gas to convert a considerable part of the iridium into metallic form; and (e) contacting the catalyst at >=300 degrees C, esp. 300-600 degrees C, with a halogen-contg. gas.
|
