Controlling drawing speed on wire drawing machine - where height of loop in wire on inlet side of each die is monitored by electronic circuits and used to adjust speed of drawing drums

The drawing dies are aligned in a straight row; and each die is located downstream of a drum employed to pull the wire through the dies. The size of the loop formed by the wire on the inlet side of each die is monitored, pref. by a sensor roller located on an elbow lever. The movements of the lever, due to variation in the height of the loop, actuate a synchro, which feeds a voltage into a controller. The controller than adjusts the voltage fed to a motor driving drum. The drawing speeds for all the dies can be synchronised and kept at specified values.
