Solar heat collector - made of bonded embossed plastic foils (PT 16.9.80)

A solar heat collector consists of two plates of plastic foil which contact each other on the periphery by ribs. The area between the ribs carries projections and recesses of square base area and with a trapezoidal cross-section. The flat tops of the recesses and projections contact each other, like the ribs, and are bonded to each other, leaving clear passages for a heat carrier medium. Pref. plastic material is an ethylene-propylene copolymer, with an admixt. of bitumen to at least one wall. An insulating layer can be added to the side away from the incident radiation. This simplifies the mfr. and assembly of solar heat collectors.
