Sterilised container cooling - by circulating coolant air from liq. seal compressor through autoclave

Process for cooling materials which have been heated inside a gas tight vessel e.g. an autoclave uses a gaseous coolant of air. Air is drawn out of the autoclave by a liq. ring compressor. Air is then fed back into the autoclave where it is expanded to give a cooling effect. The air is cooled inside the compressor by contact with the liq. in it which is cooled in a heat exchanger. Further cooling can be obtd. by a heat exchanger in the air circuit. Process can be used on infusion solns. which have been sterilised by injection of steam. System allows for a much reduced cooling time without the need for special sterilisation of the air.
