In a method of making a self-adhesive composite web, a carrier layer of thermoplastic material and an adhesive layer of a solvent-free non-cross-linkable elastomer are brought into face-to-face relationship whilst in a heated condition. The component layers may be extruded separately and subsequently brought together, smoothed and then coiled, or they may be produced in contact with one another by co-extrusion through a two-layer nozzle and then smoothed and coiled, or they may be produced simultaneously by a tube blowing apparatus from which the composite tube is taken off, flattened and slit before coiling.
