FAULT DETECTION AND ENCRYPTION SYSTEM FOR MONITOR VIDEO CAMERA AND METHOD

A system for sensing an error operation of a monitoring camera and encrypting an image and a method therefor are provided to increase security by encrypting an image signal photographed through the camera, storing the encrypted image signal, comparing the stored image signal with an image signal extracted for judging an error operation of the camera, and judging whether the camera performs the error operation. A camera unit(100) photographs an external image, converts the photographed image into a digital image signal, performs motion extraction and encryption, converts the encrypted digital image data into serial data, and transmits the serial data. A transmitting device(300) connects with an output side of the camera unit(100), and transmits the digital image signal encrypted from the camera unit(100). An image storing device(400) connects with an output side of the transmitting device(300), and stores the encrypted image. When decryption is requested, the image storing device(400) performs a decryption and reproduction operation. An alarm device(500) connects with an output side of the image storing device(400). If a defect is generated when the encrypted image is stored, the alarm device(500) informs the generated defect. An image output device(600) connects with an output side of the image storing device(400). When the decryption is requested, an external keypad(700) allows a user to input a decryption key and the image output device(600) outputs the image.
