A discriminative active queue management method for ensuring multimedia data QoS(Quality of Service) is provided to be capable of managing queues in consideration of characteristics of traffic, thus QoS of multimedia data is guaranteed. For the first traffic where a data stream should not be disconnected among data, bandwidths are preferentially ensured, in comparison with the second traffic which demands surplus bands. The first traffic is voice traffic or video traffic, while the second traffic is web data or file transmission data. A maximum threshold value is applied to be smaller than maximum queue length of the first traffic. If the maximum threshold value is exceeded, tail-drop algorithm is applied.
