A tilt and telescopic apparatus of a steering column for a vehicle is provided to extend the inside space of a vehicle by reducing the forward and backward movements of a column and narrowing the distance of a dashboard when tilting, to increase the stiffness of a bracket by locking or unlocking using the movement of a lock plate, to decrease the occurrence factor of play by having only one hinge point, to compensate for play and noise by using a synthetic resin bush and to improve reliability and commodity of a product by reducing the number of components and having high durability. The tilt and telescopic apparatus of a steering column for a vehicle comprises a clutch(10) supporting two sides of a steering column and having a moving groove, a bracket(20) having a tilt guide hole grooved to the outside of the clutch to slide a tilt hinge and a slide hole grooved at a certain distance from the tilt guide hole, a shaft(30) installed to penetrate the moving groove and the slide hole respectively, a tilt lever(40) coupled to one end of the shaft, a lock screw(50) coupled to the outside of the shaft axially and provided with a right hand screw and a left hand screw, and a lock plate(60) screwed on the lock screw and adjusted between the clutches to lock and unlock. The installation point of the tilt hinge is high enough to reduce the forward and backward movements of the column when tilting, thereby to reduce the interval of a dashboard and to extend the inside space of a vehicle, the stiffness of the bracket is increased by locking and unlocking using the movement of the lock plate, and a synthetic resin bush of the tilt hinge compensates the interval between the column and the bracket and makes a smooth movement.
