PURPOSE:To make possible the automatic discrimination of the sizes of originals by forming transparent conductive electrode patterns on the predetermined plural places on a transparent plate having insulation characteristic and making the places of a keep plate opposing to the electrode patterns conductive. CONSTITUTION:When originals of various sizes, such as, e.g., A3, B4, A4, B5 in the kinds of the sizes of the originals, are placed on a transparent plate C, the electrode patterns E1-E4 composed of transparent conductive material are disposed. After the originals are placed in the specified positions on the transparent plate C, they are retained by the keep plate B made of rubber deposited with a thin film EO composed of, e.g., conductive material. The relations between the kinds of the sizes of the originals and the operation modes of the switches S1-S4 which make th electrode patterns E1-E4 as their one electrode are beforehand suitably determined. From these relations, a logic circuit LC is used and the output of a high level is outputted from its output terminals 6-9 depending upon the sizes of the orignals, whereby the size of the originals may be automatically discriminated. |
