PURPOSE:To miniaturize the photo switch and decrease insertion loss, by using a square refractive index distribution type lens and a movable reflecting mirror, in a photo switch for turning on or off the light of fiber for optical communication mutually in two directions. CONSTITUTION:The light 10 leaving an optical fiber 1 is collimated by a square refeactive index distribution type lens 4, and is reflected by a rotating reflecting mirror 24 which is set at an inclination of 45 deg. with respect to the optical axis to deflect the optical path by 90 deg., thereby entering a square refractive index distribution type lens 5. Beams of light entering parallel the lens 5 are designed to be focused at the end of an optical fiber 2, and the light entering from the optical fiber 1 efficiently enters the optical fiber 2. When the rotating reflecting mirror 24 rotates 90 deg. in the direction of dotted line, the light emitted from the optical fiber 1 efficiently enters an optical fiber 3, just similarly. Therefore, by moving the rotating reflecting mirror alternately, the light emitted from the optical fiber 1 becomes alternately the ON and OFF state with respect to the optical fibers 2 and 3. |
