PURPOSE:To obtain syrup of high polymer content, exellent in storage stability and suitable for the production of a resin board by means of continous casting, by the great-polymerization of methyl methacrylate with a rubberlike polymer in specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A solution in which 1-20pts.wt. of a rubberlike polymer is dissolved in 100pts.wt. of mixed ethylenically unsaturated monomers containing >= 60wt% of methyl methacrylate, and a radical generator, are continuously supplied to a reaction zone, where they are mixed and continuously polymerized at such a temperature (e.g., 90-200 deg.C) and retention time (e.g., 0.5-30min) that the residual generator concentration is reduced to 1/2-1/1,000 of that when they are supplied, to obtain a stably dispersed syrup in which the dispersed phase is composed of the solution of the monomer for the rubberlike polymer, and the continuous phase is composed of the solution of the monomer for the resinous polymer. EFFECT:Suitably viscous syrup, of good workability, is obtained. USE:A casting liquid for making resin boards by means of cell-cast process. An intermediate raw material for producing a impact-resisting resin by emulsion polymerization. |
