A method is given for regeneration of catalysts contaminated with C or coke. The method includes use of a combustion catalyst to convert CO(formed in the regeneration) to CO2. In an example, a zeolite cracking catalyst contaminated by coke was regenerated with an O contg. gas with use of a Pt catalyst for oxidation of CO. The Pt catalyst was obtained by use of a soln. of H2PtCl6 in H2O. Solvents other than H2O were also used.
