It is a medicinal composition for the prevention of transition to an operative treatment for prostatic hypertrophy, characterized by containing an indoline derivative represented by the following general formula (I) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. (In the formula, R represents optionally substituted aliphatic acyl, hydroxyalkyl, aliphatic acyloxyalkyl, substituted lower alkyl, optionally substituted aromatic acyl, furoyl, pyridylcarbonyl, etc.; R1 represents cyano or carbamoyl; and R2 represents optionally substituted lower alkyl).
