PURPOSE:To reduce cost without damaging a metal-back film having small mechanical strength and small chemical resistance by providing stripe picture elements of a fluorescent substance mixed with a fluorescent substance for an index signal on the electron gun side of the metal-back film. CONSTITUTION:The fluorescent screen 26 provided on the inner surface of the panel 5 consists of the stripe picture elements of a fluorescent substance 61 and 62, stripe picture elements 63' for the flusrescent substance mixed with the fluorescent substance for indexing 63', the metal-back film 7, and the guard band 71. The fluorescent substance for the index signal to be mixed with the fluorescent substance stripe is beta Y2Si2O7:Ce, gamma Y2SiO2S7:Ce, etc., having the main luminous spectrum in the region other than the visible ray region and an afterglow time of 50n sec or less. The index signal among luminescence from the stripe picture elements of a fluorescent substance 63' is directed to the light receiver 9 through the light guider 12 for light collection, provided on the side wall of the panel 5. Thus, the manufacturing cost can be reduced. |
