<p>An aerial moutning for a vehicle radio comprises a plastics material having (1) open at the top and one side, having a base (4) with a projecting cylindrical lug (3) for locating in a hole in the vehicle metal skin. The lug has an axial bore through which a bolt (6) projects, the bolt having a ribbed upper collar (7) which is a press fit in an increased diameter portion of the bore. On the shank of the bolt on earth contact and inner contact of a coaxial cable are gripped by a nut, the contacts being separated by an insulating washer, with the inner contact electrically in contact with the bolt. The bolt secures a cylindrical contact head (16) in the housing, the head having an upper radial flange under which feet of a cover (23) engage to protect the head in the absence of an aerial. A spring biassed ball (22) in an upper central bore of the head engages on internal notch in the cover to secure the latter in position. The aerial mounting is of similar form to the cover.</p> |
