The equipment is for rearing snails on an industrial basis in a housing, occupying a small area of ground. It comprises removable vertical plates, mounted in a housing, and to which the snails adhere on both sides. The plates can be of plastics nutrient material, spaced apart for intervals of 8 to 10 centimetres, and the nesting-places, mangers and drinking troughs can be mounted above the plates. The housing bottom can be arranged to slide out for cleaning, and can comprise a fine-mesh grille. Where it is solid it can be covered with compost for rearing young snails.
