Coke is produced from a charge consisting of hard coal of high caking power, mixed with grades of low caking power, smelling power reducing agents, and pitch. The pitch which is obtd. from the high-temp. tar yielded by the coking process is blended with the charge to suit the content of high-volatile matter. The mixt. is carbonised at 1250-1350 degrees C. This makes the viscosity of the softening charging coal blend more homogeneous and permits the utilisation of =30% of hard coal with a volatile matter content of >=40% without deterioration in the coke qualities.
|
