<p>NEW MATERIAL:A phenoxypentenoic acid derivative of formula I [R is 4-trifluoromethylphenyl or 3,5-dichloropyrid-2-yl; R' is H or alkyl ; R'' is alkyl or II (X is H or halogen); R' and R'' may be linked with an alkylene]. EXAMPLE:Isopropylideneamino 4-[ 4-( 4-trifluoromethylphenoxy )phenoxy ]-2-pentenoate. USE:Herbicide effective to true-grass weeds, and harmless to broad-leaved crops. PROCESS:The compound I is prepared by reacting a substituted phenol III with a pentenoic acid derivative IV (A is halogen) in a solvent (e.g. water, acetone, methanol, etc.) in the presence of a base (e.g. sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, alcoholate, etc.) at 0-150 deg.C for 1-20hr.</p> |
