The flask is particularly for connection to surgical drain tubes and has a valve in the drain passage and a shut-off member, which consists of a flat stopper (20) sliding longitudinally in a branch (15) of the flask. This movement carries it between a position outside transverse ports (16) in the branch and a sealing position near the inner end (15") of the latter. In the sealing position it is at a greater distance from the transverse ports than the length between the end face of a drain tube connecting union and the sealing point of the latter, the union acting as a tappet for the stopper.
