Split-field DC motor controller - fires thyristors in series with two field windings, each of which is connected to one thyristor

Reduced electronic control of a d.c. motor exhibits robustness and is insensitive to shunting effects. It eliminates the armature inductor so that less noise is generated. The motor is of the split-field type featuring two field coils (13/14) connected to thyristors (11/13). When the thyristors are in conducting state, current flows in both field windings so that the current in them is equal when the motor is stalled. Control of the current is ensured by variable pulse width modulation with a controller (19) firing the thyristors.
