The visor (1) which is punched out of a transparent plastics plate and extends at the two upper outer ends into finger-like tongues (2) each with an inclined slit (3) is firmly connected all round to a rigid frame (5) made at least partly of a paramagnetic material. The visor is mounted for swivel and rotary movement on the helmet shell (8) by means of bolts or screws (4) which are attached to the temple area of the shell (8) where they pass through the slits (3). The visor now sits over the cut-out face section of the helmet which is encased all round by a sealing profile (6) made of an iron-containing rubber or plastics. At least two magnets are set in the shell on the lower edge of the cut-out section so as to keep the paramagnetic frame (5) of the visor in the closed position. A tip lever (10) or the like is provided at the lower edge of the visor to exert a forward upward force on same.
