Automatic stop release for cassette recorder - operates release mechanism by solenoid energised when radio is switched on

The automatic stop-release is suitable for in-car installations incorporating an F.M. tuner and amplifier. When switching on the radio it is desirable that the head and pinchroller are released as the recorder is switched off. This is achieved by a solenoid which is energised when the F.M. tuner or amplifier are switched on. This clears a catch (29) thus releasing a stop plate. This has the effect of releasing the play key lever (26) and consequently the freeing of a spring-loaded arm (38) which moves the head (47) and pinch roller (45) clear off the tape. It also frees a bar (31) and so opens the power switch (34) of the cassette recorder. The energising current for the solenoid is supplied by the discharge of a capacitor and is therefore of limited duration, allowing the solenoid to reset after its release operation.
